The Berwick Slow Food Group is a vital part of the Cittaslow movement in the town and the surrounding district, helping to stimulate an interest in and raise awareness of locally-produced food and drink.
Slow Food is an international non-profit organisation founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life.
The Berwick ‘convivium’ or group was established in 2006 to celebrate the rich food heritage of this historic border town and its thriving food scene today. It organises talks, producer visits, restaurant outings and much more which are open to members and non-members.
In September each year, Slow Food Berwick organises the Berwick Food Festival, one of the largest events held in the town’s annual calendar.
