Take a look at our town

Cittaslow town seeks to maintain and develop its distinctiveness and the quality of life enjoyed by its residents and the people who come to visit or work there.

Berwick-upon-Tweed is the only completely walled town in Britain. From the Elizabethan ramparts and bastions there are exceptional views down the Northumberland coast and along the Tweed Valley towards the Scottish Borders.

From the only Anglican parish church built in Cromwell’s time to England’s first purpose-built infantry barracks, from the magnificent Georgian-period Town Hall to the ice-houses that supplied the Tweed salmon trade, Berwick is full of fascinating buildings and hidden surprises.
